Mary Campbell Co-op

WHO WE ARE?

We are a community of people living in 64 apartments in three separate buildings. Our Co-op is self-governed by us, the membership, through co-operative management.

In the co-operative spirit, we aim to attract members from a wide variety of backgrounds. Through our co-op and social activities we strive to maintain a warm community spirit at Mary Campbell.

Although housing charges for all of our apartments are below the normal market rates elsewhere, we also reserve a minimum of 15% of our apartment space for members on a rent-geared-to-income plan.

Like all co-ops, we thrive on the participation of our members. All of our members attend our business meetings, and each member belongs to one of our committees. These committees are responsible for maintenance and landscaping, financial management, member recruitment, relations and education, social events, and producing the co-op newsletter. As we have a large number of children living in the co-op, we also have a special "Campbell Kids" group which organizes activities for them.

Member participation in the running of our co-op helps to build a strong community and to keep our housing charges low.
